TIFFANY HOUSEWARMING PARTY

I love seeing my customers parties in action. To see an order that I've sent electronically morph into a physical party on the other end... it seriously never gets old!

Daisy, from new party styling business Leo & Bella, bought my Tiffany printable collection for a customers housewarming party recently. I just love how she styled it and how the wallpaper brings it all together. So sophisticated. Can't you just imagine this for a girls night?  It was featured on Amy Atlas' blog today and that makes me even more happy for you and a job well done Daisy, congratulations!

HEY THERE LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD

This was my favourite article from the first edition of Tickle the imagination. Did you guess it?

Thetis from  Little Sooti blog gave a lovely glimpse at the behind the scenes making of this Little Red Riding Hood dessert scape, I felt emersed in it! I love how eerie it is. A little bit dark and mysterious...and I really love that the rain that started as a problem, turned into something that I think made this inspiration shoot all the better for it!

The clincher for me was this video from photographer Laura Cioccia - make sure your sound is on!
Well done to all involved. It's a stand out.

Aqua & Red Christmas

It's been a big weekend, and we're nearly all moved. I can now start to think about Christmas day and scour the internet for some ideas to make home look and feel all 'Christmassy'. These are my picks with my favourite aqua & red colour theme.

A Winter Wonderland...

Amy Atlas :: What goes into a dessert table...

Many of you may be following Amy Atlas and her wonderful desert table creation. She truly has great talent and has helped set a great trend in motion.

I came across this video via her blog (over a year old I think!). It shows the efforts of her and her vendors to create a gorgeous end product. (and just so happens to be one of my favourites!) 


It was quite interesting to see how Amy pulls together the talents of many others to create her creations. She may have the brains behind it, but each person adds their skills to that and it all comes together in a really cohesive way. I really appreciate that - food, graphic design, props...
I love a little "behind the scenes", don't you?

Canada Day Party :: Dessert Table

Typography sets the scene for our dessert table at our Canada celebrations on July1st!

Bakerella inspired Brownie cake pops & a little Australian 'Frog in a pond' cups for the kids!

I used my free Canadian printables (download here) and printed onto sticker paper, which made it easy to add some design elements to the red & white dessert table. And one of my favourites 'wow' factors...the Red Velvet Cake.

Full.

The wall decoration was white home decor letters ($2 each from Typo) attached to the wall with vertical curtain of red wool from Lincraft. It turned out exactly how I had pictured it in my mind...I love it when that happens!

Ode to the Macaron!

Melbourne was lovely...albeit a little bit on the chilly side! I had a wonderful time. I browsed the streets doing a lot of window shopping, searching for some unique finds, gaining some fresh creative inspiration. It was so perfect! It has sparked some great ideas...(more to come in the coming weeks!) One of the event-orientated highlights was trying a French macaron!

I had heard about The Cupcake Family and so made it my mission to pop in and try one of their colourful macaron treats. I have loved the look of these cute little guys for a long time, they are made in the most scrumptious looking colours and flavours. I have even had the ingredients to make them in my pantry for a couple of months. I can now finally say I've had one! A truly sweet treat! Crispy but soft and oh so sugary!! I love  you oh, macaron...you have a lot of design potential!

It has inspired me to get around to baking them some day sooner rather than later! I hear a great recipe is this one...Have you tried baking Macarons? Any tips for a first timer?

CELEBRATE GROWN UP PARTIES :: Tracey's 40th High Tea

How gorgeous is this high tea from Tracey Lau?! Created for her own 40th birthday, it's based on one of my absolute favourite colour combinations - blue & chocolate - so classy! Tracey created all this miniature food herself, including this stunning cake! What an amazing lady. 

These chocolate mousse glasses are my personal favourite. Just shows how presentation really makes something 'pop'.

And if you're wondering about the photos...yes, Tracey is a talented photographer too! She lives in Sydney with her husband, and five children...I like her!

And not to take the shine away from this amazing dessert table, but when I first saw this party, other thinking 'WOW' I thought how perfect this theme would work with the 'Jenny' design invitation. What can I say...great minds...! Ha :)

Archie Carnival Party :: Market Display

I decided to do up a dessert table for my market stall based on Archie (a carnival themed print I posted about a little while ago). I wanted to showcase how my invitations and paper goods could be used to theme an event. It had fairly basic elements considering space, but meant the stationery and colours remained the hero. 

 

I was feeling adventurous and decided to decorate a cake as a centre piece (never done one like this before - knowing I wouldn't get it completely smooth, I did it intentionally rough!! - work with your weaknesses I say!) The red dots are giant smarties!

Other than my cake turning into a complete blue puddle with the heat, everything else held up amazingly well!

Ice Cream Sundae Baby Shower - Part 2

(The decorate your own biscuit favours were a fun project as people arrived - they are little onesie jumpsuits for those who think it may be a little more like a bell shape!)

So today I thought I'd share a bit more of the finer details of the Ice Cream Sundae Baby Shower. 

Overall, I wanted to keep the design of this table fresh, friendly, and create kind of a summer outdoors old school vibe. Using different mediums like wood, china, tin and greenery helped to keep it friendly and fun!

Ice Cream Sundae Baby Shower - Part 1

Yum! That's all I can say...oh, and that I am still on a sugar high from the Ice Cream baby shower held for my sister on the weekend! I'm pretty happy with how it all turned out. I hope you'll agree!

Pinwheel Party Dessert Buffet

I have been a fan of Amy Atlas’ striking dessert buffets for a while. You can see some of her work on her website gallery here or follow her blog. She has done dessert tables for Martha Stewart & Oprah and featured in many wedding & home design magazines, and she provides a whole deal of inspiration for many people in the party and event world!

I had a big smile, when yesterday I came across this fun pinwheel dessert buffet at The TomKat Studio. It was created by Sharnel from My Loves – My Life for her son’s 4^th birthday party all the way from over here in Brisbane Australia! I love, love love these colours together for a boy. (I was actually in Target this week and saw some boys undies in these colours and thought they would be a good base to an invitation design – the source of inspiration sometimes!!). 

She has gone to great detail and created a well designed layout with matching stationery. Hope you enjoy the look and get all inspired like me.

There is an Australian Amy Atlas on the loose, folks - It’s good news for all the Aussie party lovers out there!!
