ROCKY ROAD FREE GIFT TAGS

Rocky Road free Gift Tag & Recipe | by Polkadot Prints for Sweet Style Rocky Road free Gift Tag & Recipe | by Polkadot Prints for Sweet Style photo
I'm just catching up from a super long weekend over here. Both Friday & Monday off school has been a bonus. It's so much more relaxing in the mornings and I feel I can just breathe easier throughout the day. Ahhhh...

I don't know if you follow Leanne of Sweet Style? But if not...get on over there! She is one the original Aussie party bloggers I 'met' back when I started blogging and getting into the party scene. I have the utmost respect for Leanne. Many have come and gone, but she has been true to herself, and been committed to seeing her shop grow & change with her. And in addition, more recently, she has bloomed into this amazingly talented photographer! I love her bright and clean style.

I have started contributing to her blog in the diy/design area and I had my first feature last week. Head on over to read why the Rocky Road, and get a free printable gift tag!

Oh I want some of that right now...:)

Happy Monday friends!

FOOD FOR CHAMPIONS :: FATHERS DAY FREEBIE

Food for Champions Fathers Day Download | Polkadot Prints photo 130821_Fathers-Day-Lead_zpsbaa89037.png
It's not long till Fathers Day! Here in Canada, it's celebrated in June, so I thought I'd share what we did for Dave a few months back.
The way to a man's heart is, as we all know, food! So we made a box of some of Dave's favourite things to give him from the kids. Donut holes, snacks and some of his fave flavoured tea's from this aptly named shop!
Maybe these labels will come in handy at your place too. Whether it's a little something in addition to a gift, or you could amp it up and make it a complete gift on it's own.

You can download the free PDF file right here. (Print fry box onto cardstock & decals onto label paper to create adhesive stickers)

Happy Fathers day dudes out there!

P.S You can find past Fathers Day freebies, here, here & here.

CHOCOLATE FAIRY BREAD HEARTS

Chocolate Heart Fairy Bread | by Polkadot Prints photo 130205_Valentines-Fairy-Bread-Lead_zps5e8e7016.png
It's not till you move away from your home country, that you fully realise the foods that are iconic to your heritage. At least that's what I've found. There are the stand out obvious ones, like Vegemite & Milo, but now that we've lived here for a while I'm finding a few different things that aren't on the regular line up of food. Like Lamingtons, passionfruit pulp in a can, or for that matter pavlova for the passionfruit-in-a-can to decorate, Coke spiders (remember these mini's ones?), tasty cheese..., and the grocery list goes on!

Which brings me to today's post - Fairy bread. Oh, yes the humble birthday party staple from my childhood. Cheap & fun, and a little bit retro! I haven't seen this here yet (please correct me if I am wrong fellow Nth American dwellers! :)
But I'm a bit of a weirdo and want my kids to experience stuff that I have happy memories of when I was a kid. So the other day I randomly made some regular fairy bread or afternoon tea; which went down a treat! Sprinkles & butter on bread? Oh yes!

It got me thinking to add some Nutella to the equation...just becuase. I'm probably not the first to think of this, because really, who doesn't like Nutella??

Now this isn't rocket science, but it was fun to kind of shoot these photos as I made them (and made them all heart shaped for Valie day coming up!).
Maybe I'll just have to introduce it at the next kids party I host!.... : )

Simple supplies you'll probably have on hand -
// Bread (traditionally on white, but we are brown bread eaters, so brown it is!)
// 100's & 1000's aka sprinkles
// Nutella
// Cookie cutters if you want.

Choose your 100's & 1000's appying technique - the sprinkle vs the face plant. I'm a face plant kind a girl as it give a good thick coating! :)

Enjoy with some milk and be prepared the wipe away some little chocolatey smiles : )

Happy weekend! I'm off to help Levi create his first ever class valentines...with me luck!

DIY :: INTERACTIVE TRAVEL SNACK BAGS

DIY Travel Snack Packs by Polkadot Prints - www.polkadotprints.com.au
It's the thanksgiving long weekend here this weekend and we are taking a last minute road trip to BC to see Dave's family. I'm looking forward to the turkey, the family and fun, but...the car trip? Not so much.

To help break up the trip and to space out the much depended on snacks, I made some interactive labels & attached them to little bags. (I haven't had time to whip up these freebies, so it was simple for me this time round.)

So round up your favourite road-trip snacks and lets get going!

Then get creative writing and decorating your tags with milestones or things you'll hopefully see on your trip. Easy, and hopefully, just hopefully it will make it for a much more enjoyable drive! Happy Trails to you!

INSTAGRAM :: FOOD

Photobucket
I thought I'd group some of my instragram photos together that show the different food here that we've seen and tried. You all mentioned how awesome these marshmallows were, but they are just the beginning! Some foods are the same and some so different.
I finally found cheese that tastes and looks like the type we're use to, I'm loving these baby carrotts you can get in a pack, a cheap, easy & healthy snack! And those chocolate covered freeze-dried strawberries are awesome with a capital 'A'. I can eat a whole packet in one sitting! (that's not so awesome of course : )

We're off to Vancouver this week. I'm so looking forward to getting into a city and experiencing some of the sights and picking up some decor items for the mock up room. We'll take the kids to Stanley park and I want to head down to Granville Island again (my fave), do you have any other recommendations for us? I'm all ears!
