FLORAL BIRTH ANNOUNCEMENT

I designed Lexie's birth announcement many months ago now, and I am still handing out to friends and family. So slack, but this is real life!
I think if I'd waited to have professional photos taken etc, then they'd still be in the making, so I guess I'm thankful for that, and better late than never right?!

I can't believe she is 5 months old already! If you follow me on Instagram you can see how big and chubby she's getting. Such a fun age! She even had her first taste of real food today...(mummy detail!). This three kids thing has been a juggling act, but I'm loving that we're getting into a better groove now. Yay.

MAKING MY OWN BUSINESS CARDS

For the past few months I've been pondering this here blog. (A delayed new years resolution kind a thing I think). I keep wondering how I want it to look this time next year. How I want to grow it, what my focus should be. Lots going on upstairs, but not necessarily all productive, lets say that!
I needed new business cards, but while I continue to deliberate I didn't want an expensive temporary option, so I decided I would make my own. As you do. It's always nice to delve into my box of supplies and make something tangible instead of sending a digital file off to a printer.

I used:
Letterpress weight business cards
Label paper wrap-around design
Cotton string

It was pretty easy to create a handful of them while having some down time with Levi. And if you ordered the Easter bags, you'll have one of them in your pack of goodness!

Speaking of Easter bags, I've had some requests for printable versions of the design. Is this something you would be interested in?

My new store with more

Well, it has been a loooong time coming, but I finally have a new website! Hip, hip...Hooray!

I am no longer limited to number of products I can have in my store, and it's now integrated better into my site. I'm so happy with having things all together. I feel I finally have my ducks in a row!

A big thank you to the whole team at Webnovation who worked on making my idea and ideals just simply work!
Can't wait to officially share some new products in the coming weeks. Have a good browse around and let me know what new bits and pieces you find and like!

Behind the Scenes :: 7 Random Things...

I have forgone any pretty packaging for this Friday and it's time to take a little peek behind the scenes! I hope you don't mind me sharing some things about me...You see I was passed the Kreativ Blogger Meme from the very gifted Tracey from Tracey Lau Art & Soul and so I have to share 7 random things about me. Here goes: 

1. I believe baking is therapeutic and love to hang out with good company over food of any kind. 

2. Growing up I always said I would have to live 10 lives to accomplish all the careers I wanted to try - dr, chef, florist, midwife, air hostess, OT, full time arty person...and the list goes on. After pursuing many jobs after high school, I eventually decided on graphic design which took me to uni, something I never thought I would do. I'm so glad I did. I LOVE it!! 

3. I can visit Officeworks just for a browse. I love stationery Kikki K is definately a favourite!

4. I lived in Uganda, Africa with my husband  in 2007. We were working for an aid organisation where I helped to set up a marketing team and some communication strategies. My husband, Dave worked in the construction of villages for orphaned children. This was one of the best years of our lives and we would go back in a heartbeat if the opportunity arose!

5. Last week my husband didn't buy me flowers...he didn't buy me chocolates...he bought me...a design magazine! I was so impressed. It gave me the biggest warm fuzzies to be known like that! Curling up reading an inspiring magazine is my fave!

6. I am one of nine children. I have two older brothers, one younger, and 5 younger sisters. It is definately fun times when we all get together. I could hang out with my family any day of the week! If I can create the same atmosphere and vibe in my own home with my own children, that my parents did for us, I will count myself successful!

7. I love Max Brenner, and believe I have happily converted many friends! Yummmmmm!!!!!

Another skip around the house is definately in order! I am in print!! What a buzz. Granted I have only seen the online version so far, so I'm sure it will be even better to see it all in hard copy, but it is still so exciting. Peekaboo magazine is a classy and free baby and family lifestyle magazine. Sharnel from My Life-My Loves does the styling for the magazine (nice front cover eh?).


My 'Eden' invite (from this party), is featured in amongst some lovely baby shower invitations (page 33 if you're looking :) And I also have a little ad on page 40.  It's so exciting to see my little idea be launched out into the big wide world!

REAL LIFE :: Preparing for the Markets

This is what my desk looks like today...I'm not even showing you my kitchen, washing pile, my bathrooms & the rest of my house!

I'm in full swing getting ready for these markets on the weekend. I've only had two weeks to get things sorted. So it's been a crazy time of printing, packaging, planning, decorating, and it looks like it will be like this for the rest of the week! 

When I paced out the space I would have on the day, it's less than I thought. So the two dessert tables I had planned in my mind and on paper is down to just the one (sniff!). So it's back to the drawing board with my stall layout and how it's going to have the most impact.


I am telling myself "it's just your first one", and not to get too crazy about it all...sometimes being a bit on the perfectionist side is not a good thing!

Let the Blogging Begin!

So, I am beginning a blog. A new creative business needs a blog, so here it is!

Polkadot Prints was born out of my love of design, printed material, children’s parties and all things cute. I have been a freelance graphic designer since I was pregnant with my first child and have decided that I need to change a little of my focus so that project deadlines don’t create one stressed out and sleep deprived mum! (and wife!). That’s not fun!

So here it is – Polkadot Prints. Quality, invitations, greetings, announcements and party packages that are modern, classy, always cute, and a little bit different to what’s already out there. 

My website is in the throws of having an online store added, so stay tuned and until then, I will add some new designs and other creative endeavours here!
