On Friday I mentioned I had a suprise event on the weekend. Well, it was my sister's 25th. (With a large family events are fairly frequent around the place)!
A little family background - when we were younger we celebrated our birthdays every year with family, but we had birthday parties when we turned 5 and 10. And when we got older we could choose between an 18th or 21st as a big bash. Well, one of my sisters Eden opted out of an 18th to prepare for a whopping 21st, but she was engaged when she turned 21, so with a wedding ahead, she never really had a big party. So for her 25th we decided to give her a little surprise!
We planned a casual dinner on the beach with some of her friends. It was a perfect evening. We had pizza and her favourite dessert, citrus tart and ate on white tablecloths and cushions. I created some cup labels, and turkish delight favours (her fave) to create a bit of a theme. I used Jordan Ferney's fringey streamer idea to create a bit of a boundary. Looking at the photos now I should have done more, but it felt cosey when we were there.
It tested my confidence setting something like this up on the beach, with everyone looking on, but I'd really like to do it again sometime!
Oh, and that's my half nude child at the front!
Looks like it was a wonderful day. You give me so many ideas, now I just need to throw a party!
ReplyDeletewhat a lovely surprise. your cup labels and favour bags are beautiful. she's a lucky sister!
ReplyDeleteGreat idea! I bet she loved it. I'm with you I would be muttering 'ignore the lookers on, ignore the lookers on' :-)
