CANADA IS ON DRUGS

...At least that is what I thought when I first arrived here in Canada. I would drive around and see all these huge 'drug stores' or chemist shops. It took me a while to realise that everyone was not on medication, but these drug stores are actually a combo of newsagents, post office, convenience store. They do also sell regular prescriptions, perfumes and cosmetics I was use to in a regular chemist.

One drug store chain actually sells all kinds of homewares too - from KitchenAid mixers to TV's!
Now I know that everyone is not on drugs, it's kind of really handy to have a one stop shop when I need to mail a parcel and pick up milk at the same time!

INTERIOR DESIGN STYLES

Photobucket
I'm not one of those people who can move overseas, interstate, have a family and not skip a beat here on the blog, I'm sorry But, keeping your orders going out on time have been the number one priority, which means I haven't been keeping up my regular rhythm of posts of late.
I'm looking forward to the day when I will have my own office space again and not working from computer propped up on it's own computer box sitting cross-legged on the floor - true story!

Since moving here to Canada I've been very aware of the different design styles in fashion, in houses, and decor. Looking at different places to live has been a real eye opener to what each country considers a modern interior. You don't realise how much your culture and surroundings mold your taste and perceptions.

I've heard the golden rule in home decor is buying and decorating only with things you LOVE and it will all look cohesive. I don't know if it's true or not, but with the opportunity to start from scratch, maybe I could try it?

WE'RE IN CANADA EH?

I just wanted to pop in, say hi and let you know we arrived safe and sound in Canada. A long haul flight with two small children isn't something I would want to do everyday, but I was seriously impressed and pleased at how our little peeps managed. No big meltdowns and fairly easily entertained. Phew!

Life here is so different (who says you have to go to a developing country to have culture shock!). Driving, shops, house styles, fashion, food - all different. Lots to learn! I think we're all over the jet lag now and ready to get in and get this life started.

I've got a post up my sleeve of a little something I did on the flight that made it a lot less stressful too. Might share that over the weekend!
Till then, my friends!

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE

Have you ever tried to get a newborn's passport photo taken? Next to impossible I'm discovering. So many restrictions - not blurry, not smiling, not crying, eyes open, mouth closed, no arms, looking directly at the camera....no double chins?
These are the out-takes from round two of trying.

Round three today was at a different shop that were true pro's. Took less than 5 mins and had a winner. So thankful!
